Accra Majestics Founder Rachel Ankomah Named Among the 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports 2025



Accra, Ghana – November 9, 2025 — Accra Majestics Sports Academy is proud to celebrate its Founder, Rachel Ankomah, who has been named among the 2025 Class of the 50 Most Influential African Women in Sports, an honour presented by the Africa Sports Ventures Group (ASVG).

Rachel, who also serves as Director of Corporate Communications for the Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU), Women’s Representative for the Greater Accra Rugby Association, and Sports Development Officer with the National Sports Authority, joins an elite list of outstanding women who are shaping the future of African sports through leadership, advocacy, and innovation.



The announcement, made in Nairobi, Kenya, recognizes 50 inspiring women from across Africa and the diaspora — including Olympic champions, sports ministers, CEOs, and community trailblazers — whose work continues to transform the continent’s sports landscape.


A Leader Changing the Game

Rachel Ankomah’s contribution to sports development in Ghana has been exceptional. Through Accra Majestics Sports Academy, she has created pathways for young athletes  especially girls  to access structured training, mentorship, and education. Her vision goes beyond the field, focusing on using sport as a tool for empowerment, discipline, and opportunity.

Known across the rugby community as a pioneer and advocate for inclusivity, Rachel’s leadership has strengthened the visibility of women in Ghanaian rugby and inspired a new generation of players, coaches, and administrators.

Speaking on the recognition, Rachel shared:

Looking Ahead to Dakar 2026

The next edition of the Awards will be held in Dakar, Senegal, during the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, where Africa’s top women in sport will once again be celebrated for their impact and excellence.
